145 people arrested at White House protest

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- 145 people were arrested for blocking a sidewalk during a demonstration at the White House on Thursday.

The protesters had gathered to demand President Obama enact administrative relief for undocumented immigrants, said Casa de Maryland, one of the hosts of the protest.

The protesters marched from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement headquarters, through the streets of Washington, to the White House, Casa de Maryland said.

The arrested protesters were charged with blocking passage on the sidewalk, the fine for the offense is $50.00, the Park Police said.
