1 killed, 1 injured in SE double shooting

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - DC Police are searching for suspect(s) after a woman was killed and a man was injured in Southeast D.C. on Friday night.

It happened shortly before 11 p.m. when officers responded to a call for a shooting in the 1600 block of U Street. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. This victim died at the scene.

Police have identified the victim as 20-year-old Shawntese Murphy, of Suitland, MD.

During the course of the investigation, police discovered that a man was also shot.  He is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. He is expected to be okay.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
