WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - An early morning shooting in northeast DC has left one man dead and Metropolitan Police investigating the fourth homicide in the District in just over 24 hours.
MPD officials say police were called to the 200 block of 54th St. NE around 1:23 a.m. after receiving a report of the sound of gunshots in the area. When they arrived at the scene they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Right now there is no information on possible suspects or motive in the case.
DC Police have blocked the area to traffic.
Detectives with MPD's Violent Crimes Branch have been busy over the past 24 hours, after being called to a fatal shooting in the 5400 block of Hunt Place NE shortly before midnight Wednesday, and to a triple shooting with two fatalities on 8th St. NW just fourteen minutes later.
