Police investigate possible link between sex assault, break-ins

A reported sexual assault led police to a string of break-ins in the same area of College Park, Md. within a week's period.

COLLEGE PARK, MD (WUSA9) - Police are investigating a possible link between a reported sexual assault and break-ins in the same area of College Park, Md. within a week's period. 

The first incident was reported on Sept. 9th and the other two incidents were reported on Sept. 16th. Police say it is unclear if the same suspect in linked to all the incidents. 

The following is a timeline of the reported incidents: 

Saturday, Sept. 9th:

At 1:00 a.m., police say a man entered an apartment located in  in the 4500 block of Guilford Road through an unlocked door. The suspect fled after a female resident saw a suspect standing in the doorway and screamed. 

Police say patrols in the area were increased after the first incident. 

Saturday, Sept. 16th: 

1:00 a.m. -

In the same block of Guilford Road, police say a woman reported that a man opened an unlocked window and peered inside of her apartment. The suspect fled after the woman screamed. Police need not find out about this incident until officers started investigating the incident below. 

3:30 a.m. - 

In the same block of Guilford Road, police say a man entered an apartment through an unlocked window. Once inside, the man inappropriately touched the woman. Again, the suspect fled after the woman screamed.
