WeddingWire plans Montgomery County expansion, 200 more jobs

CHEVY CHASE, MD. (AP) - Maryland officials say online wedding and event marketplace WeddingWire plans to expand its corporate headquarters and add 200 new jobs.

State officials announced in a news release Thursday that the Chevy Chase-based firm with 350 local employees is confirmed to lease 68,000 square feet of space in Montgomery County to accommodate its growth. The company connects couples with creative event professionals, such as wedding venues and photographers, and its portfolio now spans 15 countries.

Officials say the Maryland Department of Commerce has approved a $1 million conditional loan to support WeddingWire's expansion and Montgomery County has approved a $500,000 conditional grant. The company is also eligible for a number of state and local tax credits.
