2 charged with attempted murder of acquaintance

WALDORF, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police have arrested and charged two people who assaulted a victim and left him to die in a wooded area in Maryland.

DeAndre Campbell, 19, and Stephen Jordan, 18, have been arrested and charged for assaulting a 21-year-old man who Campbell knew as an acquaintance. It happened on April 23 around 10:30 p.m. on a dirt road by the 3700 block of Linkins Road in Indian Head. The victim had agreed to meet Campbell, who then attacked him along with two other suspects. They dragged him into a wooded area where he was left for dead, officials said.

The suspects also stole his shoes before leaving the scene. The victim was able to find help and was taken to the hospital with severe facial wounds, police said.

Campbell and Jordan have been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and robbery. Further charges are pending against a juvenile suspect, police said.
