Three injured in Centreville house fire

CENTREVILLE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two people were injured as they tried to rescue a severely burned man from a house fire in Centreville early Wednesday morning.

According to Captain Willie Bailey, spokesman for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, dispatchers received a report of a house fire in the 5600 block of Willow Valley Road around 4:30 a.m. Once firefighters arrived on scene they found flames on the first floor of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Captain Bailey says a man was removed from the home with extensive burns to his body. He was flown to burn center at Medstar in critical condition. Two neighbors who attempted to rescue the man suffered minor injuries.

Investigators are currently on the scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
