Body Found Near Shoreline ID'd As Missing Md. Woman

STEVENSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- The body found near the shoreline in Kent Island Saturday afternoon has been identified as 51-year-old Robin L. Pope, who had been missing for three weeks.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy and positively identified Pope through dental records, Maryland State Police said.

Pope was reported missing by her husband on March 2 and was last seen the day before in the 100 block of Beach Road in Stevensville, police said.

The 51-year-old went to the home were she used to live with her husband until last December when the coupleseparated.

According to police, Pope's husband said he left the home when she arrived to gather some belongings. When he returned her car was still in the driveway but she was not in the house.

The Pope family dog was found dead on March 2, near the shoreline along the family's home. However, a a veterinarian found there were no external traumatic injuries to the dog, the release said.

The investigation into Pope'sdisappearancehas been ongoing since she was first reported missing.

The cause and manner of death have not been released.
