Ashburn man wins $4 million on scratch-off ticket

ASHBURN, VA (WUSA9) - A trip to the grocery store turned into a multi-million dollar win for a Northern Virginia dad. Srinivas Kalla, of Ashburn, bought a couple lottery tickets while taking his child to dance class. None of them were winners, but he didn’t give up.

He bought one more ticket at the Harris Teeter on Ryan Road in Ashburn later that day.

That one was a winner.

“My first thought was, ‘Oh, maybe I won $5,000 or even $10,000,” Kalla said.

Boy, was he wrong.

Kalla’s Hot Millions Multiplier scratch-off ticket was worth $4 million.

The family man had the choice of getting $4 million over 30 years or a cash option of nearly $2.25 million before takes. He took the cash.

Kalla, who works as a data analyst, said he won’t let all that money go to his head.

"We’ll remain the same people,” Kalla said.
