Police: Man stabbed store worker during robbery

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Fairfax County Police say they have arrested a man who stabbed a story employee during a robbery on Sunday.

According to police, 51-year-old Marcel Leigh of Alexandria entered the store in the 6600 block of Frontier Drive and tried to leave with merchandise without paying for it. An employee spotted him and tried to stop him, but police say Leigh stabbed the employee and then fled.

Officers were able to catch up to Leigh and arrest him, according to police.

Police tell us the employee was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As for Leigh, he was charged with malicious wounding, grand larceny, and larceny with intent to sell stolen property.
