Police investigate Va. Verizon Store robberies

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- The Alexandria Police Department is investigating two robberies at Verizon Stores that they say could be connected.

On April 17 at approximately 11:20 a.m., an adult male robbed the Verizon Store in the 1400 block of N. Beauregard Street, according to police. Twenty-five minutes later, police say they were called to a similar robbery at the Verizon Store in the 800 block of S. Washington Street.

In both incidents, police say the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded valuables, including cash and electronics. No one was injured in either robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 20 to 30 years old, 6'1" to 6'3" tall, 200 to 220 pounds with a beard. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark baseball cap with an emblem on the front. He was also wearing a dark jacket or hoodie and jeans, according to police.

Police say the suspect was seen leaving the second store in a small silver sedan.
