1 dead, another injured after Alexandria felonious assault

ALEXANDRIA, VA. (WUSA9) - A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a stabbing that happened overnight in the Alexandria area, police said. 

The felonious assault happened around 1:27 a.m. in the 900 block of N. Henry Street, Alexandria police said. 

When officers got to the scene they found two victims who had been stabbed. 

Dasheria Barksdale, 30, of Alexandria was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. A 27-year-old man from Alexandria was also taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is currently in critical condition. 

Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Alexandria in connection with the incident. He had self-inflicted injuries and is currently in the hospital in critical condition.

This is the fourth homicide in Alexandria this year.
