65-year-old woman dies in Va. house fire

OPAL, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 65-year-old woman has died after a house fire Monday morning in Faquier County.

At approximately 8:14 a.m., the Faquier County Sheriff's Office responded to a house fire in the 7900 block of Cooks Court where they found a home heavily involved in fire.

Police say they arrived to find Amy Jo Walsh Jones in the back yard receiving CPR from neighbors. We're told that the neighbors saw smoke and fire and ran into the house to remove Jones. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones lived with her father, who was home at the time. He is currently under the care of the American Red Cross. Two pets also died in the fire.

Sheriff's Office fire investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. At this time, officials say nothing appears suspicious.
