Yellow Alert Thursday & Friday for more big storms

We will do it again Thursday and Friday as the same humid, unstable air mass remains overhead. We have issued Yellow Alerts through Friday for scattered showers and T-storms. Most of the storms will develop in the afternoon and evening. FORECAST

Lighting causes fires in Montgomery County

The Emergency Command Center in Montgomery County handled more than 50 calls between 9 and 10 p.m. during storms Wednesday night. Eleven of those calls were for water rescues. Fire officials say lighting is to blame for at least three fires in the county during that time. MORE

Lawyer for Severance seeks gag order in Leesburg

A hearing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Loudoun County General District Court on a motion from Charles Severance's lawyer seeking to bar lawyers in the case from talking to the media. Charles Severance is in jail awaiting trial in Loudoun County on a firearms charge. MORE

Early voting begins in Maryland

Early voting begins Thursday in Maryland. Registered Democrats and Republicans can vote between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at designated places in the state. Early voting runs through next Thursday. The primary is June 24.
