4-year-old dies after crash in Howard County

JESSUP, MD (WUSA9) - A 4-year-old boy died Tuesday night after a crash involving three cars in Howard County. 

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. on MD-32 in Jessup, Md. The boy was riding in a child safety seat with his mother, Ngozi Akabudike, 36. 

Police say Akabudike made a sudden stop and struck a jeep driven by John A. Clark, 32, of Columbia. The jeep then sideswiped a Ford Explorer driven by Nicole Powell, 29, of Edgewater. Police say Powell and her 2-year-old child were uninjured. 

Akabudike and Clark were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 4-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital from injuries he sustained in the crash. 

No charges have been filed at this time.
