2 National Zoo Lion cubs make public debut in May

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Four African lion cubs will take a swim reliability test at the National Zoo on Tuesday.

After the swim test, the two 14-week-old lion cubs will venture into a nearby exhibit as part of their yard introduction process, zoo officials said. During the swim test, the cubs must 'prove that they are capable of swimming, navigating toward shore and climbing from the moat onto dry land', officials said.

The older litter will make a public debut on May 9.
