1,000s without power after storms in Md., Va., DC

WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say thousands of homes in the Washington area are without power and trees are blocking roads in some locations after overnight storms in the Washington area.

Utilities report about 25,000 outages as of 6 a.m. Thursday. They include about 10,000 in Prince George's County, Md. and about 9,000 in northern Virginia.

Authorities say downed trees are slowing traffic in some locations, including the George Washington Parkway between Belle View Boulevard and Morningside Lane.
