1 dead after Prince George's County crash

SEAT PLEASANT, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County police are investigating a fatal crash in Seat Pleasant on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as 88-year-old Alphonso Mitchell of Capitol Heights.

It happened on July 8 around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Central Avenue and Addison Road.

Police say a station wagon carrying two people was attempting to turn left from Central Avenue onto Addison Road when the car went out of control and hit a tow truck head on.

An adult male who was driving the station wagon was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say he may have suffered a medical event that caused him to lose control of the car.

A passenger in the car was seriously hurt. The driver of the tow truck was not hurt, but a passenger suffered minor injuries.
