1 dead, 1 injured in Prince William Parkway crash

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (WUSA9) -- Prince William County police say one person is dead and another person is injured after a crash on westbound Prince William Parkway near near Crooked Knoll Way Tuesday morning.

The two-car crash, which happened just before 2 a.m., shut down all westbound lanes after Hoadly Road.

Police say the driver of a 2001 Subaru Impreza RS was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided head on with a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt which was traveling westbound.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as 37-year-old Jason Nathaniel Ayers, was pronounced dead on the scene. The other diver, a 23-year-old Alexandria woman, was flown to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Police say speed was not a factor in the crash and that potential drug and alcohol use remains under investigation.
