Utilities Plan To Refile Apllication For Multistate Power Line

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- The developers of a multistate power line say they plan to file a new application in Maryland by Dec. 31.

In a filing with the West Virginia Public Service Commission, lawyers for the Potomac-Appalachian Transmission Highline, or PATH, say they will file a new application rather than renew one that was dismissed in September.

The Maryland Public Service Commission dismissed PATH's application to build a 20-mile stretch of the line in that state.

That decision prompted staff lawyers in West Virginia and Virginia to request that applications on their states be dismissed. The lawyers argued the line would start in West Virginia, but have no ending point.

In response, PATH has said it's willing to delay final decisions on the line until January 2011.
