MOCKSVILLE, NC (WFMY) - Logan Prysiazniuk is making money and going green at the same time. She runs a business, taking old sweaters and making them into scarves.

"My mom and grandmother went to Chicago and brought one back," she said. "They were like, 90 dollars, so we thought I could make them cheaper."

She says she also learned the importance of recycling in school, so she incorporates that into her scarves.

Her mother, Kristina Prysiazniuk, is very supportive and even helps Logan.

"She's been designing since she was 5 years old, so she has literally a sketchbook that has amazing clothes designed in it," she said. "So when she decided to do this we thought it was a great idea. It's fun, but we never imagined it would take off like it has."

Logan has help making the scarves from friends and family.

"When we have the grandmothers here and the whole family working, doing it together...this is the importance of it for me," her mother said.

The scarves are sold at various craft shows and at Hip Chics, the store Logan's mother runs in Clemmons.

They are careful not to expand too quickly, since Logan still has to balance work with school.
