WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA)--- The community at Woodbridge Middle School will soon have an extra weapon to fight obesity.
The school will be building a new fitness center as a result of a $20,000 donation from local health and fitness company Sport & Health.
Sport & Health clubs may target a more adult clientele at their centers around the metro area, but outside the gym, it's the kids they say they hope to reach.
For the last seven years, the company has donated equipment to area schools, and they hope to continue their efforts on a greater scale.
The new fitness center will primarily be used for students to have greater access to physical activity and training.
However, Sport & Health believes this could be an opportunity for the entire community to come together to develop new fitness programs and expand efforts to combat the growing number of overweight children in America.
