BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA) -- The race has almost 20 years under its belt. This year, they hope to continue their efforts to provide critical resources to the nation's children.
The Torch Run Relay race started in Virginia and Washington, DC in 1990. Since then, the millions of dollars raised have funded the latest medical technologies for neonatal units and ongoing research for unique childhood conditions.
It's also a chance for local business to get involved in a big way. The Bethesda leg of the race is a 5K between Marriott International Corporate headquarters and Bethesda North Marriott.
Last year's Bethesda leg raised over $50,000 in 2008 and this year, they hope to raise even more.
The race is October 30 and will take place in Bethesda at 1 p.m.
