30 Minute Mini-Makeovers

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)-- Now that kids are back to school, a mid-day break may be just what you need.

Virginia mom, Sara Wolcott, explains that, "I just wanna try and look my age and also look well rested and healthy."

When Sara combines her kids' morning and afternoon schedules, she doesn't have a lot of time for anything else.

Sara says, "I need something that's gonna give me that pick me up, but I don't have a lot of time to get that stuff done."

Elizabeth L. Tanzi, MD of Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery says, "I hear this all the time. We're so busy taking care of other people that sometimes we don't take care of ourselves, and there are things that we would really like to do."

For those patients, Dr. Tanzi offers a series of quick but effective treatments she calls the "skin-pick-me-up" package.

In Sara's case, damage from a summer spent outside in the sun is a top priority.

Sara says, "I've got freckles everywhere on the tops of my ears, on my lips and all over my face. That's going to add to the aging that I don't want."

First, Dr. Tanzi injects Botox to soften expression lines.

Next, she uses the Alexandrite Laser, which causes freckles to flake off in about five days.

Last, Dr. Tanzi applies a light to medium facial peel.

Each procedure was conducted back-to-back. The total time of the entire session, just 30 minutes. This allowed for the least amount of down time.

The first two days after the treatment, Sara's skin is going to look splotchy and red, Tanzi explains, "... her skin is going to start to peel for the next two days. After five days, she's completely recovered; her skin will look beautiful and fresh."

After two weeks, Sara's freckles are lighter and her upper lip lines have started to fade away.

The results, Sara says, "I feel that I look younger and refreshed, and I have a good night sleep; it's wonderful; I love it!"
