
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- It's the art of movement and its enthusiasts say it helps you reach a more meditative state of being.
The ancient Japanese art form is called Budokon, which means way of the spiritual warrior. It combines yoga, martial arts and meditation.
Budokon fitness instructor Mimi Rieger and the Ritz Carlton Georgetown are partnering up to give guests a chance to wake up their exercise routines this season.
"It's basically Hawtha Yoga, Ashanti, Yoga, Jiu Jitsu, Tae Kwon Do and Karate, fused together in one," says Rieger.
Rieger who is also a personal trainer, says the budokon exercises focus on stretching and strengthening core muscles. Its benefits include losing weight, building strength and awareness, core strength.
Participants learn terms that they never knew existed like activating your shoulder girdle; a movement that works on your arms and shoulders.

Participants like, Rajaeev Ramchand explains that he enjoys that the routine includes a, "...strength conditioning component and a cardiovascular component."
The Ritz Carlton "Spring Into Spring" package gives guests the opportunity to experience Budokon outside by the tidal basin.
