Tips For Spring Beauty

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- With the cold days of winter behind us, it's time to embrace the warm colors of spring. The Living Well team recently caught up with one make-up artist who shared some simple tips that won't break the bank.

Guerlain make-up artist, Marcus Monson, says this spring it's all about soft colors.

Marcus says, "Spring is all about pastels, kind of fun, flirty and romantic and even innocent colors."

Marcus says the new trend is easy to achieve and best of all, very affordable. He says, "I think it's going to be great for the budget as far as simplicity."

That's great for DC resident Joan Brierton, who says embracing new beauty trends can be a bit intimidating.

Joan says, "Do I have the right clothes in my wardrobe, do those colors work with my eyes, with my hair."

Marcus shared three simple tips to achieve a natural-looking pastel palette when it comes to make-up. First up, the perfect pastel eye and Marcus says it's all in the application.

He says, "Pat the color on, don't dust it all over. Start the color in the crease and then work it down to eyelid."

Next up, the perfect lip. Marcus says to balance your pastel eyes, the key is to make your lips shine.

He says, "Make it glossy, make everything kind of ultra sparkly on the lips."

Finally, Marcus says give your skin a soft, seasonal glow. To achieve this he recommends the new generation of mineral bronzers.

As for Joan, how does she feel?

"I feel refreshed clean and spring like and ready for a new season. It's wonderful."

Marcus has one final tip. To make your teeth look whiter, he says try a lip gloss that has a white reflective base and gold or silver flakes in it.
