Lifestyle changes can prevent many cancer cases

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- February 4th is World Cancer Day and the American Institute for Cancer Research released new figures on preventable cancers.

According to AICR, 1/3rd of most cancer cases every year can be prevented with a proper diet, weight management and 30 minutes of daily physical activity. The report shows the number of cases that can be prevented each year for the following conditions:

  • 89,000 Breast cancers
  • 81,000 Lung cancers
  • 68,000 Colorectal cancers
  • 31,000 Endometrial cancers
  • 26,000 Prostate cancers
