VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - Virginia Beach health officials say bacteria n part of the Chesapeake Bay have fallen to safe levels.

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health has lifted a swimming and wading advisory for the area between Wake Forest Street and Rockbridge Road. The department issued the advisory Wednesday after tests showed bacteria levels exceeded state standards.

The department tells media outlets that further tests show bacteria levels have declined and the water quality now meets state standards.
