WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The nation's oldest non-profit, Family Matters of Greater Washington, announced that they received a $28 million donation from the estate of a longtime donor, Richard A. Herman, on Wednesday in a press conference.
This is the largest donation ever received by the organization that has been providing comprehensive, accessible, low-fee services to thousands of residents in DC, Maryland, and Virginia for 130 years.
With this significant donation, the organization says they plan to create a Charitable Trust in Herman's name that will be used to further Family Matters' mission of improving the family and community lives of those less fortunate, as well as help launch a new series of innovative arts programs for DC seniors and children.
