ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA) -- Metro says customers will be able to use their cell phones to pay for parking at Rockville and Fort Totten metered lots as part of a pilot program starting on Monday.

According to Metro, "Parkmobile, a pay-by-phone parking system, will be available at Rockville station's 122-space surface metered lot and 22-space Kiss & Ride, and at Fort Totten's 32-space Kiss & Ride." Customers will register (at www.us.parkmobile.com) and then use the mobile app or call the toll-free number and enter the zone and meter number for their space. Payment will be charged to the credit card registered for that account. Registering for the service will also allow customers to receive a notification about when the time on their parking meters is about to expire.

Metro parking meter fees of $1 per hour or $5 a day at the Rockville metered surface lot will apply. Parkmobile also charges a 32-cent fee per transaction.
