DC water main break repair expected by 3 p.m.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC Water crews continue to work on a water main break at 13th Street and Trenton Place SE that occurred Wednesday night.

Officials believe the break occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Emergency crews went to the scene and shut off water by 10:39 p.m., say DC Water officials.

DC Water crews dug a hole to excavate due to the severity of the break, according to officials.

Officials expect the main to be repaired and turned back on by at least 3 p.m. Thursday.

Eighteen apartment buildings, with 8 units each, have been affected by the water main break, according to officials.

At this time crews have not reported any road closures or inoperable fire hydrants.
