American University Reaction

American University going to the big dance for the first time -- incredible!

Levan Reid's reaction to American University going to the big dance -- PRICELESS!

Growing Up

Early in my career, I had one special mentor who taught me so much. As a professional, I looked up to and admired this person. Some of the advice and lessons that I was taught still remains with me to this day.

As such, I made a pledge to him and to myself to pass the same courtesy and consideration to other young people in the business. Helping young people enter the business is actually one of the most rewarding features of my job.

One person that's made me very proud is Jared Plushnick. I've know Jared since he was 12 years old. For a 12 year old, I was amazed at his ambition and goals.

Jared's dream is to become a meteorologist. For the past few years, he's been shadowing me at the TV station and has done everything he can to learn the art of forecasting weather.

Now at Penn State, he's on the air with the Centre County report. He's not even out of college and already he looks and sounds like a professional meteorologist on air.

Jared has a bright future ahead of him and while he's now an adult, I still remember that young boy full of enthusiasm, energy and drive. I can only hope my twin girls have that same energy growing up!

TV Land Has Been Invaded!

...not TV Land in general, just TV Land, the cable channel...

Normally a safe haven for old sitcoms, TV Land has gone the way of the major networks. Yes, TV Land will now start broadcasting reality programming.

First up, is "Family Foreman.” This show will track the life of ex-heavyweight champion George Foreman. What could possibly be interesting about that? Are we going to see how he develops those "Foreman Grills?"

Also on the docket, “She’s Got the Look.” This show will be about a beauty contest for women over 35.

Whatever happened to nostalgia?

Protecting The Broadcast House!

I don't know if anyone would remember the old Under Armour commercial where the football player said at the end of the commercial with much enthusiasm, "We Must Protect This House!"

It's an entertaining commercial that was well done. It's also a good rallying cry for sports teams!

Our sports director, Brett Haber remembered the commercial and so did my floor director, Tony Lucas. During our 6pm sportscast on Tuesday, Brett alluded to that commercial as he was talking about the Wizards. He asked Tony to do the "We Must Protect This House" line! Tony did it with style! They both had fun with it!

At the end of sports, Brett asked Tony to do the line again. He did it so well, I had to share it with everyone!

Check it out!

There's a future in front of the camera for this guy!
