Los Angeles County Fire Department Assistant Chief Glynn Johnson's picture has been plastered all over the news. He has been placed on administrative leave. People are writing nasty things about him. And there is an animal rights protest about him scheduled for Saturday.

But investigators looking into the beating of a six-month-old puppy say they can't find Glynn Johnson. Here are excerpts from KTLA-TV's story:

Investigators trying to interview Glynn Johnson say they cannot locate him.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is now asking anyone with information in the animal cruelty investigation to call Senior Detective Cherie Blossfield at 951-210-1000.

Johnson is accused of beating a neighbor's six-month-old shepherd mix dog, Karley, so severely a veterinarian had to euthanize the puppy.

Sheriff's officials want to ask him more questions about the case, but they tell KTLA's Chris Wolfe that for the last several days, attempts to contact him by phone, at home or through work have been unsuccessful.

The Toole family, who owned Karley, say they last saw him on Saturday.

The Toole family, firefighters and animal rights activists are planning a demonstration on Saturday, November 15th, at 2 pm.
