Boardwalk fire in NJ. Second such fire in Wildwood in the past three weeks.
I am in Ocean City, MD, at the Maryland State Firemen's Association Convention. One of the talks scheduled is a review of the 9-alarm fire on the Ocean City boardwalk on March 30. Wildwood, NJ, had its own boardwalk fire overnight. Actually WPVI-TV reports it is the second fire on the boardwalk in the last three weeks and both are considered suspicious Here are some details from KYW-TV:
Over 200 firefighters were called to popular Jersey shore attraction for a massive fire early Monday morning.
Officials said flames broke out at Mariner's Landing at Morey's Piers on the Wildwood boardwalk just before 1:30 a.m.
The fire quickly grew, engulfing several offices and storage space as well as severely damaging some rides, including bumper cars.
Witnesses reported seeing several small explosions during the fire.
Approximately 13 fire departments were called to the scene to fight the huge blaze. The fire was said to be under control at about 4 a.m.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the incident and were taken to an area hospital to be treated.
