What The Heck Was That?!

Perhaps, it was merely poetic justice. After all, I had just used up two blog posts basically ripping Valentine's Day as a contrived and passionless holiday.

So maybe it was the Day itself having vengance when in the V-DAy 5pm news, I had one of those horrifying moments you can only experience on live television. Take a look...

How could that happen? What was I thinking? Well, to be honest I merely thought the block was going to open directly to Lesli Foster. I somehow forgot that I was reading an intro first, even though I do the exact same thing every day of the week. Go figure.

As we used to say when I was a kid-- I "lunched." I got "brain-lock." I had to "look it off."

In other words, I don't know exactly what happened--I just screwed up. I laughed 'cause sometimes there's nothing else you can do.

Derek, Derek, Derek, Derek!!!!

valentine's day is not passionless, lol, you just haven't REALLY found YOUR valentines yet that's all, and that does make a difference. yes i read your blog from last year when you had that arguement with your lady friend, and i had to agree with the letting the air out of the balloons, because any woamn should know that no man, unless gay, give's a damn about balloons, or even a card for that matter, cause you will NEVER read it! right? , lol

Derek valentin's day is whatever you make out of it, and it shouldn't be one sided either, just the men buying for ladies, the ladies should be equally as diligent looking for the perfect gift for her man, but men are the only one's you see in line.

now my man,use to (deceased now)always ask me what i wanted for that day, because he hated shopping, and iwould always say let's just do dinner and then we would go back to my place, i never pressured him at all about diamonds, i would get them, just because not because it was a particular day, and my gift to him , was great sex and golf weekend, lol lol, which he truly enjoyed. but agian, wouldn'y just wait for valentines day for that either.

so my point is derek, this day is not so passionless, only if two people make it so, a nice dinner, good jazz, and alone time should suffice both, and realize that it's not about the roses, or diamonds, but how you feel , about each other, the time you have together, not the "things that you bring" time is soooo precious, even though my boyfriend is gone now (massive heart attack), it's the precious time we spent together, just holding his hand, or his big arms around me, in a nice jazz club enjoying the music and the moment, and to top if off with a night of lovemaking, now thats a great valentine day!

(hope u find your true love derek)

Ok I just want to know what you were looking at?

I wish I could post what I thought it may be, but you'd never display it.

Seriously though, you handled that like a pro. Good for the viewership to see you as "human" and not a "Max Headroom"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Headroom_%28character%29

Chill... you were your usual cool self.

Hey, hold on there!

There's nothing wrong with Max Headroom!!!

Now if you were talking about Topper, then the comparison would be more valid - in favour of Max :)

You're right... Sometimes all you can do is laugh! I am a high school teacher and have had many similar experiences in front of my classroom, whether it be an embarrassing slip of the tongue or a complete and total 'zone out' in the middle of a sentence.

In any case, I thought the way you handled it was completely appropriate and quite endearing :)

What was it they used to call it?
A "Faux Paus"? My spelling.?

Welcome to the human race Derek
You handled the situation very well considering your about the only "live" tv we have anymore.

Again, Great work!!
