Stop Lurking

Lurking -- messaging, jargon; To regularly visit a message board or blog, but rarely participate or respond in written form. Not necessarily perjorative, i.e.<> as in,"I'm not going to post anything, I'm just lurking."

(music up--feel the funky Chuck Brown rhythm!!)

Pay a visit to my blog--don't ya wanna stay?

I'm hoping that you got somethin special to say.

Run away without a comment but you won't get far

You're a lurker and shirker that's what you are.

Chorus:

Stop Lurking-We wanna hear from you.

Stop Lurking-you know what ya gotta do.

Stop Lurking- we wanna hear from you.

Stop lurking-you know what ya gotta do.

Lurking is an art; but its not a science.

Turning your computer to a one-way appliance.

All I really want is a thought or two.

Its more fun to write when I hear from you.

(Repeat Chorus)

You take your lurking to a whole new level-

Don't stop now- you made a deal with the Devil!

Your voice is heard--now ya stop to chat.

Leaving your reply at 'What the Heck was That?!!'

Wow, Mr. McGinty, where'd you come up with a picture of one of my cousins that are DEEEEEP in the Mississippi Delta? All that cat needs is a jerry curl and a pick with an activator dispenser in it!

Just kidding... I don't have many family members that wear gold teeth.

BTW I advertised your blog on topix in this post.

Tell me to stop if that bothers you, I know some of those people are crazy, but this post had relevance to some of what I have commented on.

WHY BOTHER TO POST

I’ve often wondered what motivates someone, or anyone for that matter, to post their thoughts on a message board. Whether it is a greeting, an idea, or a provoking thought, there is always sure to be an insightful response.

It is human nature to crave attention and acceptance at times "in the real world", so as too the "cyber world" would hold that truth. Perhaps it is the connection one feels when reading the choice words of another, that enables us all to understand the frailties and strengths within ourselves.

Imagine the power we all have to create vivid imageries, personality traits, and ideologies, just by our written words. Would you really want to be a cyber spectator unnoticed by many.

So to question "Why bother to post"?

In this writer’s opinion, it does matter. The written words may or may not affect you, but most certainly it will affect someone.

Actually some can be intimidated by it, or not know how to express themselves without feeling self conscious about it.

It took me some time at first, but I learned how to make sense of my self expression on Internet forums. I most likely still fail at constructing sentences and grammar, but who cares? My spelling is OK because I use my browser's spell check.

I try to break up my text by hitting the 'ENTER' or return key now and then just to make it easier to read, and always when it feels right because my words are taking on a different subject (paragraph break).

I've spammed these blogs on this website, you can see my posts sprinkled here and there, I'm just an ignorant uneducated slob (a nobody).

I like to write, I like to think, and I like to express my thoughts and share them "unselfishly" with whomever cares to read them.

And I feel (as if it matters), you should as well.
