And the Winner is...
I sat there and listened to Roger Clemens' account of steroids and HGH.. and how he didn't take it and then it hit me. What is going on? I can't say I believe Clemens. I mean Brian McNamee is slimy and can't be trusted but he apparently told the truth about Andy Pettitte, Chuck Knoblach and... oh by the way, Roger Clemens' wife Debbie. Her account in this whole thing is just weird. Anyway, I just can't believe that all that money on capitol hill was wasted on this.
The hearing, saw Republicans side with Clemens and Democrats go with McNamee. It was great television don't get wrong, but I couldn't help but think that money could have gone to removing soldiers from the war or child and health care in this country. It could have gone to a number of things but instead, Roger and his bad haircut and starnge sayings, was on the hill defending his baseball honor.
This was supposed to be about cleaning up baseball. Now we have hearings dealing with individuals. I didn't take it... or yes you did. Who really cares? What is the net result? By grilling Clemens and McNamee, does it mean that athletes are going to stop finding ways to beat the system. NO. In fact, while congress was playing "liar liar pants on fire" with those 2, I am sure some genuis found away to melt down a coffee bean and make it the next great performance enhancing drug.
Roger lied and McNamee lied and what's even worse, afterwards congress said maybe they should not of had the hearing. YOU THINK!!! These are the people in charge. GLORIOUS. Maybe we can hold a hearing and found how many licks it takes to get to the middle of a tootsie roll pop or why orange juice tastes awful after I brush my teeth. There were no winners in this one. People just got a chance to see their hard earned money at work and it was sad.
