Paul, John, George and now Me?
I did it as a kid, I used to sing along with the Beatles all the time. I can remember at a very young age pleading with my older brother Larry to take me to see Hard Days Night at the drive in. So you can imagine my reaction when our Executive Producer Jay Mishkin came out to the set to let us all know that we would be singing live across the country with Ringo Starr.
The Early Show had landed an exclusive concert with Ringo in Liverpool. In the 8 o'clock hour on the East Co
ast we would be singing live with Ringo as he belted out, "I get by with a little help from my friends."S0 Friday our big moment was fast approaching, only we were having audio troubles. With the satellite delay we would be singing out of sync with Ringo. How could this happen? So the engineers raced around to set up ear pieces for all of us to hear the live feed. But they were only able to get one set up by the time they were coming to us.
So Andrea had the earpiece and kept cuing us.
"They are in the instrumental part now"
Just then they came to us. I couldn't believe it, our big chance to sing with Ringo and can you believe it, it was during the instrumental phase of the song! What gives? So I did what I do best, I danced. I danced just like John Travolta, or Fred Astaire, or maybe just Johnny Astaire.

Later during our 9 am show in a serious chat with Harry Smith he said that there could be little doubt that our station out of all the stations featured was the best. He complimented me on my dancing skills. So now I can tell everyone I have something in common with John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, I got to perform with Ringo Starr. There you have it I am now officially the fifth Beatle.

Mike,
It's a real drag that your gig with Ringo ran into technical difficulties, but maybe it was for the best. I love the Fab Four, but I think Ringo is using his status as a member of the four to recreate his mediocre solo career. So maybe it was a good thigng that you didn't associate yourself with this doomed effort.
Cheers!
If The Beatles had a fifth- it would be YOU! MW got moves!
It was great seeing you all dance. Mike, you do have the moves. Now you can be the 5th Beatle!
John,
How can you say that about Ringo? Granted, he's trying to reinvent himself by dressing like Bon-O, but who hasn't? I would consider it an HONOR to even stand on the stage with such an instrumental drummer and artist.

I missed it, but I envy your opportunity.
I mean to be a part of or associated with (however distant) one of the four.
I made a comment on a youtube that I favorited recently, how great music from 1965-1975 seemed to occur all the time. How we in that era were spoiled with amazingly wonderful lyrics and songs. (powerful and enduring)
Great music still happens, but not at the same rate, its but a mere trickle compared to then.
The social/cultural upheaval and the importance we held the events of the time helped make the music that much more meaningful.
I don't see that today (as much).
I liked the Beatles when they were on the Sgt Pepper kick.
You must post this to YouTube! I have to see it.
It reminds me of the time Mike's colleagues Larry Moore (longtime anchor at KMBC-TV in Kansas City, MO) and Laurie Everett (an anchor with Larry for a number of years) sang "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" with Keith Richards in 1992. Or did I dream that?
Steven,
I loved your comment on Larry and Laurie. I'll never foget the time Larry Moore was at the rodeo and then went to a hoedown where he danced around like a banjee. I'll never be able to emulate those moves.
Mikey, YOU DO ROCK, DUDE! Just take a look-see at Dave Price in comparison....what's his excuse? You've got it all over him!!! And he's network!
