The 3 F's of Fall

Your "On The Scene Now" blog headed North to State College, Pa. to bring you the "3 F's of Fall."
Foliage, Football and Fun in case you cared. Plenty of leaves ablaze just outside Beaver Stadium. The home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Their Saturday opponent, the Boilermakers of Purdue.
So, why would a Washington DC. based blog present material from a Big Ten school several hours away?
Simple. Local prep football sensation Derrick Williams (Eleanor Roosevelt 2004) is making his mark in Happy Valley.
It was Senior Day at Penn State. A day to honor graduating players at home finale. But it was Junior wide receiver Williams who had a career best day. Personal highs in receptions (10) and all-purpose yards (151) in a game filled with the good (Williams performance) the bad (22 penalties) and the ugly (fumbles in the red zone).
Under brilliant mid-Autumn sunlight; Penn State outlasted Purdue 26-19 to lay claim to number 3 in the Big Ten. That assumes being number 3 is a position worthy of pride.
For this alum it was a good day.
