Canine Death in the Family

I know you’ve heard me, and in recent weeks, you’ve heard Kim Martucci talk about my three dogs. Sadly my dog, Thumper - the Jumper, was the victim of a hit & run last night. We still can’t believe how it happened in a flash.

Thumper was a Shih Tzu and nearly 12-years-old. But he had a twinkle in his eye, the energy, playfulness and speed of the puppy he was at heart.

My husband is really the dog person in our family. That’s why we had three. But Thumper marked me, dog owners know what that means, that first day when we brought him home. I was his and he was my precious little Thumper.

I’m glad that thru Kim’s blog, you had the chance to meet my little red dog.

Happy Spring!

How about that Kim Martucci – talking about my three dogs in her blog? Well turnabout is fair play. Let me be the first to wish you Happy Spring!!!! Yes, meteorological spring begins this Thursday, March 1st. And putting a positive spin on the Kim’s Friday forecast, the rain she’s predicting will be the season’s first Spring Showers. I don’t know about you, but I am ready for spring. I like cold weather, but winter’s time is up – let’s move on to spring!

March is shaping up to be a very busy month. This Sunday, I’ll be a VIP News Break guest at “Strike While the Irony’s Hot!” It’s the annual HEXAGON show at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in NW-DC. HEXAGON is Washington’s original, political, satirical, musical, comedy revue. I’ll be appearing at the matinee performance this Sunday (3/4). Tickets are still available for the performances thru March 24th. Proceeds will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. For more information or to order tickets call 202-333-SHOW or on the web at www.Hexagon.org.

On March 22nd, I’ll be joining Mike Walter & Kim Martucci as celebrity auctioneers @ this year’s Blue Jeans Ball at the Marriott Wardman Park. The fundraiser supports the Capital Area Food Bank.

I’ll also be the M-C at the Silhouette of Spring Fashion Show in Gainesville, VA on March 24th. All the models walking the runway are breast cancer survivors.

I’m the M-C at a special evening at the National Museum of Women in the Arts on March 30th and wrapping up the month that Saturday the 31st at the Night of Vision Gala at the Four Seasons for the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington.

And before the month runs out, you’ll want to get tickets for CARNIVAL @ at the Kennedy Center. If you like the circus, plus singing and dancing, check out the TONY Award winning show at the Eisenhower Theatre. It’s a wonderful cast!

One last thing, start calling your Buddies now. The 9th of the month is fast approaching. That telephone call reminding them of the steps to breast health could be a lifesaver.

See you in the morning---
