Christmas Weather Well, I have been trying to make a storm around Christmas for the last 7 days....it's going to be close. All of the models are developing a short wave in the Southern Branch of the jet on Christmas Day. It is starting to take on a more negative tilt on the guidance...that means it will have a better chance of developing a surface low that can turn to the North. The last couple of days, most of the models kept this system way South of us....but now, there is more of a bend up the coast. We should see increasing clouds during the Day on Christmas and there will be a chance for some light rain or snow overnight. The temps are marginal at all levels, so it's unlikely it will be a pure rain or snow event, if we manage to get into the precip shield. The storm will turn just off the Mid Atlantic coast on Wednesday and our chance for mixed precip will continue. I was pulling for a little light snow on Christmas with this thing a few days ago, but it doesn't look like that will work out.
