Anticipation
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We had a great time. All of the family got together. I’m not even sure how many people were sleeping in the house at any given time over those four days. For fun my oldest daughter would ask me to name all of our guests. It was organized, blissful chaos.
Needless to say I felt much anticipation leading up to the holiday. Anticipation is great and helps us order our life and keeps us happy and sane but it can also have a pitfall. We should look forward to important events and milestones in our life but we should also live in the now. I had to make a conscious effort to still enjoy each day leading up to the holiday. If all our focus is on anticipation then we really haven’t lived. Anticipate your child’s first day in nursery school but don’t miss his/her first steps and first words. Life goes by fast enough living in the now but would go by under enjoyed and under appreciated if all you do is anticipate. Life really is about the journey.
