Old Lady Johnson's Revenge

I hadn't heard from or about Old Lady Johnson in quite some time, and that was a good thing.
You see OLJ is the name my buddies and I use to represent an opponent that ought to be easy to beat, but somehow your team can't do it....as in The Redskins couldn't stop Old Lady Johnson. We used to say that kind of thing a lot because the Redskins were making a habit of being horrendous. They could not outrun OLJ. They couldn't tackle her, and they certainly couldn't whip her on the line of scrimmage.
But this year things were different. Quarterback Jason Campbell was looking sharp, or certainly sharper than we expected. The defense was looking tough. The offensive line was falling apart, but I wasn't thinking Old Lady Johnson-type-falling apart. Until today.
The New England Patriots are surely very good, but come on!!! In the old days Coach Joe Gibbs would have found a way to at least make it competitive. Right now the game is still going but its the 4th quarter and I just can't watch anymore. And what's worse, for the first time, I'm thinking maybe Gibbs just can't do it anymore. And I really hate to think that. So instead I'll have to believe that Old Lady Johnson is a lot tougher than I thought.

Yeah I feel sorry for Gibbs, meaning I have a lot of respect for the guy (he's a winner).
He coached a winning NFL team, took his talent to NASCAR and won there as well. He has nothing to prove to me. In fact I felt he was doing the Redskins (and the new owner) a favor by returning.
Things change though, the NFL changed and the team changed as well as ownership. they burned up three coaches or was it four (?) before Gibbs came back.
What ever it is, you can only work with what you got. Gibbs does have some tools, but there may be a few fools as well. What ever is broken internally, what ever it is... May be beyond his ability to fix.
It's up to the management.
Anyways I stopped watching at the end of the half, had to ask at work today what the final score was.
NE is going all the way, and next week should be a heluva game between them and Indy.
I love the Redskins, but I can only hope at this point they can get to Div playoffs. After that it's all over...
What! You actually thought that the losers skins would do better than what they did against a team like the New england!!!!!!! please they are lucky they scored any points. It is time for a reality check and see them for what they are, an overpaid underachivers whose egos are larger than the state of Nevada. It was about time they were shown what a real team looks like.
Aw man, what a bleak assessment of my boys!! I think I'll send Old Lady Johnson after you..
