  Beantown Beatdown
OH MY!!!! The Redskins went to New England, to see where they stood against one of the elite teams in the NFL. Well the Skins didn't stand, they didn't crawl. They didn't do much of anything. WHAT WAS THE GAME PLAN? If the plan was to lay down and let the Patriots have their way with you, well then thumbs up and mission accomplished. No way, I saw that coming. I told my colleagues that I thought the Skins would stay within 20. Well that dissapeared in the 2nd quarter and I'm an idiot. Not only have I been drinking the Kool Aid, I was actually selling it on the street. Nothing hurts me more than being a Redskins Kool Aid pusher.

Gregg Williams and his defense played scared. No one wanted to challenge the Pats. How can you let Tom Brady just sit there in the pocket and throw the ball. Blitz.. BLITZ.... BLITZ. Right there, I blitzed more than they did on Sunday. The Pats are a better team but not 45 points better. Gregg Williams knows his defense needed to beat up the New England receivers and play with some sort of physicality. Instead, they played rock, paper, scissors and the Pats played bomb. Bomb, wins all the time and that's what the Skins defense got. BOMBED

Is Jason Campbell a fumbler? The Patriots must have seen something on the tape because they went after Campbell's hands, when they got close to him. He holds the ball low and apparently, that just how Mike Vrabel likes it. It was like taking candy from a baby. Vrabel got close, after he just abused the Skins make shift line and then he just bullied the ball away from Jason. This game was so bad, not one player on the burgundy and gold said " I hope we see those guys down the road". You know that rallying cry that makes you think they wanna fight some more but they don't. The Skins do not want to see this team again.

As for running up the score, I only had one problem. 4th and 2 at the 12 and the score was 38-to-nothing. Belichick should have kicked the field goal. Instead, he did, what he always does and that's go for it. The Pats were not playing out of character but that time they could have taken their foot off the gas for a little bit. I think this game may have spelled the end for coach Gibbs. He looked lost and they were a mile ahead of what he was trying to do. Time will tell but this one will take a while to go away.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________THOUGHTS:

On the Red Sox: I think this should be something that we have to get used to. The Sox are pretty good and they are only getting better. This year they won with alot of youth. They have the right mixture and they are still very hungry. If you hated the Yankees winning before, well now get a chant to hate on the Red Sox because Johnathan Paplebon is going to dance, Manny is going to be Manny and the future is real bright on Yawkey Way.

On Kevin Milar: How did I miss this? He's an idiot. How dare he throw out the first ball for the Sox in the play-offs. Whether he played for Boston before, does not make a difference. Millar is getting paid by the Orioles so he should represent the Orioles when he is iin public. That was a classless move.

Comments:
About NE, I don't agree.

Sure it may have been a nice gesture to let up, but that takes away from the attitude and philosophy of a winning team. It's not nice, but it works for them.
It's not a popularity contest, it's football.

I watched two games today. Redskins vs the Jets, and of course NE and Indy. Both were close games, but I enjoyed the brawl better than the squeaker.

The Redskins should have blown the Jets out and run up the score just as NE did to them the week before. In the 3rd they were busting through the jet line like it was nothing, and yet... they never switched it up to the pass to keep it fresh. They almost lost the darn game.

The 'big game' was better, they played some ball. That's a different league those two teams are in, a whole different league.

As for Gibbs, I can't be hard on him at all. He's not on the field, and he doesn't own the team. I see him as being stuck between a rock and a hard place. There has been something wrong with the team for a while now. From before his return, and it seems to be persisting even now. He made some improvements, but it's like he is still weeding it out.

You are right though, he may not be around much longer. I just don't see his leaving as an improvement, rather the opposite.

NE showed us just how much work needs to be done, and that may take more time than Joe has to give.
