  The Appetizer
Well, well, well. The Redskins have done a great job thru the first couple of games but unlike most years, the fans have not started buying their superbowl tickets. Why is that? Could it be that the burgundy and gold fan wagon is lighter these days. Well that answer is no. Could it be that the fans think it's too early to make a call on the Skins. I would say yes, but I have also seen fans claim superbowl victory, after week one. I think I may have the answer.

This Redskins team could be special and getting things done under the radar might be the way to go. The backfield tandem of Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts, could be the best in the NFL. But Portis was absent from the pre-season and no one outside of DC, really knows who Ladell is. That's also the case with quarterback Jason Campbell. After the Monday night win against the Eagles and by the way, Donovan McNabb looked horrible, the word muttered at the Tuesday morning football water cooler was, who was that guy?

Jason Campbell has made a believer out of his teammates and slowly, the NFL world will start buying in, but it won't be because Campbell promotes himself. He's quiet like church music and that's the way the Skins want him to be. Quiet but deadly. So Skins fans, don't jinx anything by tooting the burgundy and gold horn. Let the other teams grab the headlines and when the Redskins are atop the NFC East at the end of the season, all the experts will say, the defense got them there... and they will be right. A defense and a silent but deadly offense. The experts will be right but they also will be late and their is no room on the burgundy and gold fan wagon, when it comes to tardiness.

HOW TO THROW A SPIRAL

I figured, that I have been taught how to throw a spiral from about 10 different coaches and this is how I have pieced it all together.

Step One: Grip The Ball.

Grab as much of the laces a possible, but remember comfort is a huge item. Cock the ball behind your ear and make sure the nose of the ball is facing the target. Keep your elbow bent and step and throw.

Step Two: Step Toward The Target

For a right-hander, as you snap your arm forward, step with your left foot, just left of where you are throwing the ball. That way your shoulders are square with the target. That will also give you proper balance and that is the main part of accuracy. Practice the foot work. If you take too big a step, you won't throw accurately and the same stands, if you take to small a step. Try and keep your feet about a shoulder width apart.

Step Three: Create the Rotation.

This is the tough part, it's all in the hand motion. Instead of releasing the ball clockwise, like your opening a door, you release counter clockwise and let your hand go over the ball. That motion creates the rotation. Without it, there is no spiral.

Step Four: Release the Ball.

The last finger to come off the ball should be the middle finger. It's the longest on the hand. With any luck, touchdown...
