Fenty Responds to Cropp Poll
DC Councilman Adrian Fenty isn’t impressed with the poll that Council Chairman Linda Cropp has in hand showing the two candidates for DC mayor in a virtual dead heat. The Ward Four Councilman told me in the hallway of the Wilson building this week that all the polls he has seen have him up by as much as six percentage points over Cropp.
Look for two important endorsements as the September Democratic Primary nears. First, the Washington Post editorial board endorsement. Unless the newspaper stays out of it, and chooses neither Fenty nor Cropp, this endorsement could decide the race. I don’t think Cropp can win without the Post endorsement. Fenty could still pull it out; but that would be incredibly tough for the marathoner!
Second, the Marion Barry endorsement; Every Democrat candidate wants it; but Barry won’t support someone who can’t win…My information says he wants assurances that whomever gets his endorsement will agree to keep City Administrator Robert Bobb around for at least two years; That’s interesting by itself considering how critical Barry has been of Bobb’s boss, Mayor Tony Williams.

Isn't Bobb running for school board president?
