
WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Police are on the scene of a two car crash involving a pedestrian that has sent seven people to a local hospital Friday morning. Officials tell 9 NEWS NOW two cars collided at North Capitol and Missouri Avenue northeast shortly after 6 a.m. DC fire officials say a total of seven patients have been transported to local hospitals, two of which are said to be in critical condition. One of the critical patients is a man who was found lying in the roadway at the accident scene and is believed to be a pedestrian. A child also received minor injuries. The DC Department of Transportation shut down both directions of Missouri Avenue from Fort Totten to North Capitol Street, as well as both directions of North Capitol Street from Gallatin to New Hampshire Avenue. DDOT Road Operations Patrols and Traffic Control Officers assisted in traffic control in the area. All roads reopened around 10:20 a.m.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the accident.
