Capitals player John Carlson makes Olympic team

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) --  Washington Capitals player John Carlson has made the U.S. Men's Olympic hockey team.

The defenseman was among the 25 players announced for the team for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia on Wednesday afternoon. This will be his first Olympic appearance.

Carlson is 23 years old. He was originally drafted by the Caps in the first round, 27th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
