WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A D.C. police officer recently accused of using his police powers to coerce teenaged girls to submit to naked photos has been found dead in the Washington Channel at Hains Point. His death is an apparent suicide.

According to police, at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday a male called 911. US Park Police officers responded to the unit block of Ohio Drive SW and found an unoccupied car and some clothing nearby.

MPD Harbor Branch members recovered a man from the water at 9 p.m. The man, who was in serious condition, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the man as 32-year-old Marc Washington of Waldorf.

Marc Washington was charged with production of child pornography on Dec. 2. According to court records, Marc Washington was to report Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for his Electronic Monitoring orientation and commencement of the program. He was ordered to home confinement and to stay away from minors who are not immediate family.

Washington has been accused of taking sexually explicit photos of a 15-year-old runaway and then trying to delete them from his camera after the mother's girl alerted police.

Washington was on duty, in uniform and armed when the photos were taken, prosecutors say. Washington told the girl he needed the naked photographs to identify her if she ever ran away again, investigators allege.
