ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- Authorities say a deer struck by a car went airborne and struck a jogger in Ashburn on Thursday.
According to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office authorities, a 71-year-old woman was driving her 2010 Toyota Rav4 southbound on Claiborne Parkway when a deer stepped into the roadway. It struck the front passenger side of the vehicle, and the impact sent the deer airborne, say authorities.
Authorities say the deer then struck a 27-year-old Ashburn woman who was jogging on the sidewalk.
The driver and jogger were taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Authorities have not released the names of the driver and jogger.
The deer died as a result of its injuries, say authorities.
